Notes for Eliza (Spouse 1)
Elizabeth White was a daughter of James White, farmer of Rosebury Mains. He appears to have been a tenant farmer previously at South Callends, West Linton in 1827 (South Callends had previously been owned by Whites) and his brother and/or father was the innkeeper of the Leadburn Inn. (This James White and George Dalgleish were farming when wool was fetching large prices and appear to have made a sufficient fortune to weather the slump which followed).
