"Grosset & Reid - Thomas, Blacksmith, residing in No. 4 East St. James
Street, and Margaret Reid, residing in No. 3 Shrub Place, Leith Walk, both in this parish, third daughter of " crossed-out section "the late Rev. William Reid urc Lothian Road" end of crossed-out section "Spirit Merchant at Thornhill, in the Parish of Morton, Dumfriesshire have been three several times duly and regularly proclaimed in the Parish Church of St Cuthburts inorder to marriage and no objections offered.

Married on 29th November Eighteen hundred and fifty by the Revd Wm Reid Minister of the urc Lothian Road." (I believe that urc stands for the United Reformed Church.)
I subsequently discovered that Thomas and Margaret had one daughter, Agnes Grosset, born 13 Feb 1853 in St Cuthberts Parish, before Thomas died only afew years later.

Agnes resided with her mother Margaret and her second husband, Robert Nisbet, (who were married in 1855) even after Agnes' marriage to a William Bowers in 1871. The census of 1871 shows Robert, Margaret, Agnes, 4 of the at least 5 children that Margaret and Robert had together, Agnes' husband William (who was a Royal Marine) and a friend of William's (also in the Royal Marines) as residing at 8 Nicolson Street in Newington, Edinburgh.
