Died of gunshot wound to the head 13/1/1911
inquest 17/1/1911
Whitehall St Yarrville. Sitting on couch in a back room. Hole in forehead and appeared to have been dead for 2 hours. Box of cartridges beside him. Gun had been taken from his nhand by a george Linfoot and ahnded to the policeman. Recently fired.
Wife said he had been drinking heavily last few wekks. At 9 am said he was going to tasmania and askedher for 2 ponds which shwe gave him. He kissed her goodbye and then she removed nearly all their furniture to her brother’s Hotel next door. About 6 pm he returned and asked why she had removed the furniture. She replied that she thought he had gone to tasmania. he then went into their own house. About 9 pm she went in and found him as above. She called out and mr Linfoot. Body had 8/- and a pipe in the pocket. No suspicious circumstances.
Brother Edward William identified body. has been a little excited since having a knock on the head a few months ago.
