Dalkeith OPR 1855 - William Terbit Pryde (son of) William Pryde and Agnes Pryde. Carter. (Born) July 3rd 1822 Dalkeith. (Baptised) August 1822 by the Rev. Thomas Brown.

Shown on 1841 census with age rounded to 15, living with his parents and brother George at High St. Dalkeith, employed as a Blacksmiths Apprentice.

1851 census shows William aged 28 living with his parents and one brother and two sisters at Back St. Dalkeith. Employed as a Labourer in Dalkeith Parks.

Shown on 1861 Midlothian Census aged 40, a Carter, born Dalkeith, living at 166 Wilson's Close, Dalkeith with his wife Mary and children Mary, Agnes, William and Margaret.
Lived at Wilson's Close, Dalkeith when registering the death of his son, William,
in 1855. On this birth registration William is shown as aged 30, born Dalkeith, which means he should have been born about 1825, when records quite clearly show he was christened in July 1822.

Shown on 1881 census living at Lugton, Dalkeith, with his wife Margaret (sic) and children William, George, John, Agnes and Mary, shown as daughter but really grandaughter. William shown as aged 59, a General Labourer, born Dalkeith.

Registered the death of his son William in Dalkeith on 25th September 1882.

Registered the death of his brother George on 11th February 1886 when he was shown to be living at Lugton, Dalkeith.

Registered the death of his sister Agnes when he was shown to be of Pencaitland.

Memorial Inscription St. Nicholas Old Kirk, Dalkeith states:-

"...William Pryde her husband died 2nd June 1898 aged 76 years..."
