Notes for William George (Spouse 1)
OCCUPATION: Miner.

CENSUS INFORMATION: In 1841 Census, he is living in Illogan (as a copper-miner) with his father, step-mother Mary, her (Rogers) children and his brother Richard, and sisters Grace & Elizabeth. HO 107/142/5 Folio 36, page 27.

NOTES: Known as George. Baptism recorded for the Parish of Redruth on LDS Film #0916958. Emigrated to Melbourne, Australia in 1857, aboard the "Morning Star" (1327 Tons). Port of Embarkation was Bristol. He travelled with his wife, Lavinia (Record #1000) and cousin, Walter Orwell.

Ian O'Brien stated that William travelled to New Zealand from Plymouth with his father and his father's new wife Mary Rogers (#2513), 2 sisters (#1499 and #286) and brother (#382) in 1842. This is supported by the manifest of the ship BLENHEIM which sailed from Plymouth, England on 2 July 1842 and arrived at New Plymouth, Australia on 19 November 1842. He may, therefore, have travelled twice (1842 and 1857).

Died aged 49. Death recorded in Victoria State Records (#8862). Burial recorded in Redbank Cemetery Records - Grave No 29 for the date 9 September 1874. His family bible records his death as occurring on 12 Sep 1874. Death date in the Pioneer Death Index is 1874, aged 46.
