My name is Katherine. My maiden name is Pyers and Aaron is my son. I have quite alot of info on the Pyers family. According to the 1811 muster for Buckingham, Samuel Pyers was tried at Middlesex in 1790. Was given 7 years transportation. He arrived in Sydney on the Atlantic. Home office records claim he was tried at Middlesex Westminster session of the peace on 13/9/1790. It also says sentence was 7 years. Surname is spelt Spiers on this record. It says he arrived in one of 9 ships in early 1791 including the Atlantic and the Active which is the vessel the 1819 General muster for Hobart claims he arrived in Sydney on. The record also says he was tried in 1791 in London. Samuel was sent to Norfolk Island and married Sarah Johnson on 2/11/1801 while they were both still convicts. They had a son, Richard B.1802. There is record of a daughter marrying later on called Mary. According to records she must have been born c.1803. A daughter, Sarah B.1804. Information says Samuel Pyers, wife and 3 children arrived on the City of Edinburgh 1/10/1808 at Hobart from Norfolk Island. (CSO 1/177/4306 p.222) Samuel Pyers recieved grant of 65 acres from Governor Phillip at New Norfolk. He had 5 acres in wheat, 1 acre in peas and beans and 1 acre in potatoes. He had 1 female horned cattle and 40 female sheep. (1819 muster) Other children, Hannah B.12/4/1812. Baptised 7/2/1822 New Norfolk by Rev. Knopwood. Samuel B.1815 at New Norfolk. Susannah B.6/9/1818 at New Norfolk. Baptised 7/2/1822. George B.6/12/1821. Baptised 7/2/1822.
I have no info. on Mary Elizabeth's marriage to Leslie Tarbit. I only have a reference to the name. I have Mary Elizabeth's marriage to George Hartley in 1906.
Where do I fit in? Samuel Pyers and Mary Montgomery Cook had 13 children according to my records with at least one set of twins, Louis Ernest B.27/6/1874 Avoca(13395)& Mary Elizabeth B.1874 Avoca(13396)I presume on the same date. Samuel Pyers & Mary Montgomery had a son called James B.14/7/1872 Avoca(20965)He married Adeline May Kirk in 1902. Had 6 children? Fourth child, James William Sydney Pyers B.1907 Charlton(25569) D.1980 Douglas(19679) was my Grandfather.
