IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN. The Second day of March in the year of our Lord God One Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty-five (1785) I JOHN ANGEL the Elder of the Isle of Portland in the County of Dorset being weak of Body but of Sound and Perfict Memory and Rememberance praised be God doe make and Ordain this my Last Will and Testemant in Mannor and form following first I bequeath my Soul to Almighty God and my Body to a Decent and Christian Burial and as for what it hath please God to bless me with in this Life I doe here give and Dispose of as followeth
Imp: I doe give and bequeath unto my Two Sons JOHN ANGEL and WILLIAM ANGEL all the money that I have out on Morgages Bonds and Notes of hands Equall to be Devided between them share and Share alike Also all that my Part of a Sloop or Vessell Called the Portland to be divided between them share and Share alike and freely to them to give or to sell to them and their heirs for ever I Also give unto my Two Sons JOHN and WILLIAM ANGEL my Two Setting Places in the Parrish Church of Portland in the Seat or Pew with JAMES CHILES's, Together with all my Wareing Apparil and Also all my Fishing Craft boats Netts and all there unto belonging and Equall to be divided between them share and Share alike and all freely to them to give or to sell to them and there heirs for ever According to the Custom of the Isle and Mannor of Portland
Itm, I give and bequeath unto my Son JOHN ANGELL my New Dwelling house together with the backhouse and the house Called the Longhouse there unto ajoyning in the Village of Chessell Also my Meadow Close at Vearn yeats Called Vearn yeats Close and all freely to him to give or to sell to himand his heirs for ever According to the Custom of the Isle and Mannor ofPortland
Itm, I give and bequeath unto my Son WILLIAM ANGELL my Dwelling house outhouse and Backside in the Village of Chessell that he now Lives informily Bought of THOMAS ELLIOT and freely to my Son WILLIAM freely to him to give or to sell to him and his heirs for ever According to the Custom of the Isle and Mannor of Portland
I give and bequeath unto my Grand Children Sons and Daughters of JOHN and WILLIAM ANGELL all that my Late wife EDETH ANGELL's Wareing Apparil of what kinds soever Together with Six Gold Rings and half the plate and half the Chaine with half the househould Goods and furniture to be Equall Divided between my Grand Children Share and Share alike and freely to them to give or to sell to them and there heirs for ever
Itm, I give unto my beloved Wife SARAH ANGELL my Dwelling house that I now Lives in in the Village of Chessell together with the Brewhouse outhouse and Garden before the house and All ajoyning to Each Other Also the one half of all my household goods and furniture half the plate and half the Chaine for she to Occupy Possess Injoy dureing her Naturel Life. After my Wife, SARAH ANGELL, Deceas I give unto my Grand Children Sons and Daughters of my Son JOHN ANGELL my Dwelling house that I now Lives intogether with the Brewhouse outhouse and Garden before the house with thehalf of my household goods and furniture Plate and Chaine and Equally tobe Divided between them Share and Share alike and freely to them to giveor to sell to them and there heirs for ever According to the Custom ofthe Isle and Manor of Portland
Itm, I give unto my Wife SARAH ANGELL all my Money that I have in house Together with all the Money that I have due to me in Trade and all Book Depts freely to She and her heirs for ever
And Lastly I doe make Consetute and Appoint my Wife SARAH ANGELL to be my full and Soul Executrix of This my Last Will and Testemant To Receive all money due to me in Trade and Book depts and to pay my Depts disanul and Revoking all other wills before by me made Ratifying and Confirming this to be my Last Will and Testemant in Wittness whareof I have here unto sett my hand and Seal the day and year above Mentioned
