From The visitations of Cornwall 1531, 1574 & 1620. "Sir Hugh de COURTENAY born 22 March 1327 (Another reference has him dying 2 September 1349) In 1346 served under King Edward III in France, and was present at the Siege of Calais in 1347. Later in 1347 he was present at a tournament at Eltham Palace, and became one of the Founder Knights of the Order of the Garter in 1348.He died before 2 September 1349, (??? Which is his death date??) and was buried at Ford Abbey. His uncle William de Bohun, 1st Earl of Northampton succeeded to his place in the Order of the Garter.
