VALE MRS EMILY WAIN.
The sudden death of Mrs Emily Louisa Wain of Nerang St Southport, came as a great shock to her family and numerous friends, who believed she was recovering from her recent illness.
Mrs Wain, who was 84 years of age had lived in Southport since her marriage here in 1888 (sic). Until her death, she was well known as a keen gardener, and her garden was always a blaze of colour. She is survived by her husband who is 90 years of age, and ten of her eleven children (six sons and five daughters). Those living are Daisy (Mrs Gilby, Brisbane), Ethel (Mrs Flitcroft, Stanthorpe), Arthur (Sydney), Joseph (Brisbane), William (Southport), Mary (Mrs Tarbit, Melbourne), Mabel (Mrs Leppien, Southport), Leonard (Southport), and Roy (Marborough). Emily (Mrs Harper, Nambour) pre-deceased her mother by eleven years.
After a short and impressive service at the Southport Methodist Church of which Mrs Wain had been a member for so long, the funeral moved to the Southport Cemetery attended by a very representative gathering of mourners.
